Learn From It
Name 1 thing (per group member) that you have learnt from the designs that you have seen in the Red Dot Museum.

Lucas: I have learnt that no matter how dull the function/use of an object is, it can be made interesting and have aesthetic appeal.
Chen Ning: Sometimes you have to think out of the box to come up with innovative designs.
Xavien: The design of a product can be aesthetically appealing and be of good use at the same time
Keith: The designs there are great designs that the public has not learnt to appreciate.

Application
Take a picture of the design that your group likes most and explain how it relates to the project that your group will be working on.
This is the hope tree, basically an upsized version of the dew collector. We may be able to use the hope tree as a place to chain bikes to.

3 KEYS TO A SUCCESSFUL COLLABORATION

1. Listen to other members' ideas in the team before shooting them down at the beginning.
2. Do not just sit there and listen to other people's ideas. Instead, contribute your own ideas.
3. Do not team up with your friends for the sake of it. Instead, team up with people that have the same goals as you.

3 keys to successful collaboration

1. Clear communication
2. Allow people to share ideas
3. Talk less, work more

3 Points to a Successful collaboration

1. Listen to the other members in the team

2. Think over the ideas together before shooting the idea down.

3. All members contribute.

3 points for successful collaboration

1) Teamwork
2) Listen to other people's ideas
3) Communication

3 Key Points to Successful Collaboration

Point 1(Do not shut down someone's idea)
Sometimes due to overconfidence in your own idea, you might reject any other ideas. Try to listen to your team mates, maybe their ideas are better.

Point 2(Be a team player)
Do not just sit down there and listen to your team member's idea, contribute something, share your opinion.

Point 3(Choose the right people)
Choose the people that are aiming for the same goals.

3 points for successful collaboration

1) Do not monopolise the group

Do not be the only one that talks. Group work only gets done when everyone works together.

2) Do not be quick to judge

Do not be quick to judge someone else's ideas. A "underdog" may have the best idea!

3) Have fun! (but not too much)

It is always better and more productive when everyone has fun, but it may start having negative effects if everyone starts having too much fun.

3 key points to successful collaboration

1.Clarify your purpose and vision.
Make sure your collaborators know clearly what your desired outcome is so everyone can work towards a common goal.
2.Team Roles.
If everyone switches between roles every few moments, the task could become confusing very quickly. Assign individual roles to avoid this.
3.Communicate clearly.
Voice your opinions but do listen and evaluate others' ideas. Communication works in two ways, not one.

Tuesday 8 July 2014

3 Keys To Successful Collaboration

1) Do not shoot other people’s suggestions down! Every suggestion matters. Instead of shooting their suggestions down, try discussing about their suggestion and making it better.

2) Participate. If you do not voice your opinions no one is going to be able to improve them or use them.

3) Co-operate. If you fail to co-operate, you fail to work together as a team with other people.

Monday 7 July 2014

3 Keys to Successful Collaboration

1. Communication
2. Being open and understanding of other's ideas and opinions
3. Participation

3 keys to success in Collaboration

Everyones opinion counts

Listen to other peoples ideas and build on them

Do not force others to use your ideas

3 keys to success in Collaboration

1)Do not shoot down anybody's idea in the group, instead try to build up on their ideas and give them feedbacks on their ideas(eg.what went wrong in their idea and what was good.)

2)As a group do not stray off your common goal instead keep your focus intact on what you guys are doing.

3)Participate actively even when your suggestion or idea is not taken in by the group, try giving another feasible suggestion/idea.

Sunday 6 July 2014

3 Important Keys To Success In Collaboration

1) Listen before you judge, think before you speak.

2) Be open and participate. (Don't be a wet blanket)

3) Respect others and communicate well.

3 Important Keys To Success In Collaboration

1) Listen to everyone's ideas - Instead of going on with the first suggested idea, let everyone speak of their own idea and let the whole team decide which idea to finally choose by elimination.

2) Participate actively - Instead of sitting and doing nothing, make the most effort to come up with ideas and help your group members. Encouraging a group member who is not interested is not a bad idea either

3) Be open - Be ready to accept it when your own suggestion is not finalised. No matter how much you think that it would work, do not argue with your group members and cause disputes between the group. Try discussing the pro and cons about your idea and the finalised idea.

How to do a presentation

How to do a great presentation

Basically I'm gonna to advise you how to do a great presentation (like Steve Jobs)

1- Plan and rehearse for your upcoming presentation
(You need to know what are you going to say and when to say it)

2- Use words like revolutionary, amazing, unbelievable, incredible etc.
(This will WOW the audience and attracting their attention)

3-Make good videos and ads about your new product.
(It will let the consumers know how your product works and how great it is)

4-Add more graphs and charts and pictures
(Your consumers will be expecting pictures, as reading out word by word can lead to boredom)

5- Give your consumers a surprise
(If you have improved your features and design from your previous or you are going to introduce a new product, don't show them just yet, but put it a special, clean envelope and open them live in front of the audience. And say this, "Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you... The new ____________. " The audience will go "WOAH!"

6. Have confidence in presenting.
(You are standing in front of a large audience, and the reporters are present and doing a report. And you need to say something that is related to the topic of your presentation with confience)

'Stop Talking About Your Problems And Start Thinking About Solutions'

We must stop complaining or blaming others about the problems we face and start think about how to solve the problems

Thursday 27 February 2014

"Stop talking about the problem, start thinking about the solution."

Most of you, if not all of you, understand the quote as we should not over focus on the problem but instead spend our effort and energy on finding solutions. Do you agree that this should be the way in solving problems? Hope to get your response soon.

Your Thoughts for the Weekend

Creativity, nature or nurture? What do you think?

I&E Lesson Week 8 26 Feb Summary

Presentations
Risk to Homo Sapiens existence: Joshua, Prateek, Kai Heng and Yew Chong
We are the cause of our own downfall. We should look at our extinct evolutionary cousins to learn from their mistakes and prevent our existence.

Global Warming: Johan, Wai Yan, Jin Yu and Min Quan
Humans are the cause of global warming. We can reduce the amount of greenhouse gases by using compact fluorescent tubes instead of light bulbs or practicing the 3rs at home and in school, among other examples.

What We Learnt
Use attribute listing to list the properties of your ideas.
After that, use ALOU (Advantages Limitations Overcome limitations Unique features) to narrow down your ideas and help you to select the best idea.

Stop Talking about your problems and start thinking about solutions.

"Stop Talking about your problems and start thinking about solutions."

This quote means that you don't have to cry over your problem and let the whole, wide world know about it,you have to learn to solve it by generating ideas and trying to solve it in a way which satisfies you.You can solve the problem much faster by putting in the time and effort you use to grumble about it as it would always make a greater and stronger impact.

"Stop talking about you problems and start thinking about solutions"

This quote basically tells us to stop thinking about what our problems are but instead, think about how you can solve the problem by coming up with solutions/idea/ways to get rid of the problem that you have.
If all you do is tell people your problems, your problem will never get solved. So instead, tell or share with people, your idea/ways/solutions to solve you problem.

'Stop Talking About Your Problems And Start Thinking About Solutions'

This quote tells us to learn and quickly think of ways to solve your problems and stop procrastinating. This way, there will be lesser problems piled up over time and you will be more at ease.

'Stop Talking about Your Problems and Start Thinking about Solutions

This quote means that instead of complaining of our problems we should start thinking about correcting our mistakes and find solutions for solve it.

Saturday 22 February 2014

'Stop Talking about Your Problems and Start Thinking about Solutions'

This quote means that the main thing to focus on is on your solutions, not your problems. If you keep talking about your problems and never find a solution to it, you will never get any further.

'Stop Talking about Your Problems and Start Thinking about Solutions'

It means, instead of spending all your time talking about all your problems, why not just use that time to think about the solutions to your problems? Solving your problems will have a greater impact on you than letting the whole world know how miserable you are. When your problems are solved, you'll have less things to worry about and you will feel much better

"Stop talking about your problems and start talking about solutions"

I think this quote means that when we come across a problem, we should not just sit and complain about them but to start thinking of solutions about that problem.

'Stop Talking about Your Problems and Start Thinking about Solutions'

What do I think this quote means?

Don't concentrate on your problems, instead focus on the solution(s) for the problem. You can't go back and change the past, so look to the future and don't make the same mistake twice. Try to be optimistic, after all every problem is a problem because it has a solution right? You just have to keep looking.
(When there's a will there's a way.)

Stop talking and start thinking

I think what this quote means is that, when we meet a problem, we should start thinking of solutions and not sit there and grumble as it is not going to solve anything.

This basically means that instead of sitting down and cry, it is better to start studying for your next exam.

"Stop thinking about your problems and start thinking about solutions"

The quote basically means: Stop complaining and worrying about the hardships faced; start thinking positively and solve them.

"Stop thinking about your problems and start thinking about solutions"

This quote basically tells us to start thinking about solutions to our problems instead of regretting or thinking about your problems. We often tend to think about your problems so much that we forget that every problem has a solution to it that we can find if we start thinking about the solutions.

Things We Learnt (19 Fe

Thing we learnt today:
You never know what can happen in the future. For example, your bones being replaced with bones made of rubber bands so we can be better in sports.
The potential of what we can do it unlimited.

The problems we face in Singapore:
~Jobs: Not enough jobs in Singapore for Singaporeans.
~Housing: Not enough living space for people.
~Foreign talent: Slag Singaporeans, they starts their own companies and employ their own rationality
~Transport: trains and buses can be very crowded during peak hours.
~Cost of living: Expenses increase
~Social Unrest: Riots, litters

By categorising, we are creating HOTSPOTS.
Hotspots help us to identify problems.

When we give a solution to a problem,
the solution might be your next bigger problem.
There is no no proper solution to a complex problem.

"Stop thinking about your problems and start thinking about your solution."
What do you think about this phrase? Think about it and answer it in a blog post by the weekend.
